CSUN-Skinnell ContextIn terms of institutional policy, we are required to have a portfolio (as explained in the syllabus, and worth 25% of the final grade) and we are required to have 3 major essays, ideally all argumentative, that comprise several drafts informed by the writing process. Other than that (and, forgive me for not having the specific information handy), there isn’t much required influence from the institution. My syllabus was born out of several other syllabi from people who were teaching when I was trained. We don’t have a common syllabus, so it’s essentially left to each individual instructor to do as they see fit, though they do, for the TA’s, all pass through an experienced instructors hands before being implemented.
