APA-SIG @ Digital WPA: Resources for Untenured WPAs« | WPA Tenure and Promotion | » Doug Downs points to a new and potentially valuable resource (WPA-L, August 2006): Derek’s request provides an excellent opportunity to roll out the new Assistant Professor Administrators SIG webpage on the Digital WPA site. As material is uploaded by our site coordinator, Chris Ervin, untenured WPAs will be able to find exactly the kinds of resources Derek asks for — job descriptions, statements of how administrative service counts toward tenure, and documents other tenured and untenured WPAs use(d) to support their tenure applications. This will provide untenured WPAs with the opportunity to see what materials each other and successfully tenured WPAs are generating, as well as the different requirements and means of assessing administrative service used by different institutions. (The APA workshop at July’s WPA conference amazed many of us in the diversity among our institutions in terms of tenure requirements and countability of administrative service.) What is the source of this material? You, of course! Anyone responding to Derek personally, for instance, could also cc Chris at <Chris.Ervin@usd.edu> to have their documents uploaded to the APA page. (We aren’t having everyone upload their own in order to best coordinate the site.) The page will be available to view only by those logged into the WPA website, for those concerned about just how wide an audience their documents might reach. :-) It will help Chris if you specify in your e-mail whether documents are job descriptions, tenure requirements, other institutional documents, or elements of your own administrative service tenure portfolio. Documents can be uploaded in any “regular” format (Word, HTML, PDF, etc).
