Interested People‹ Existing Collaborations | Main Resource List | 2009 CCCC Workshop on International Research › Interested people: Comments Chris Anson, NC State (chris_anson@ncsu.edu): The Council of Writing Program Administrators is slowly moving toward internationalization, both in its consultant/evaluator service and in the possible formation of international regional affiliates. I am chairing a WPA task force that has been established to explore the issues; its dozen members have significant international experience in composition and are working in various partnerships or on various international initiatives. The task force is currentlly exploring the possibility of creating a digital portal for the sharing of information internationally. Country-specific or regional organizations could become members of a larger super-organization without losing their more local interests. Every 5 years or so, an international summit could bring together member organizations in a different international location for the purposes of broader exchange and collaboration. Joe Williams, WPA-L, 9/9/2005: A real service would be a compiled bibliography that we might divide up and review for the list. Jennifer Wells, WPA-L, 9/9/2005: Me too! I’ll go ahead and put together what books/articles people have already mentioned. Feel free to email the list if you know of more, or email them to me off list. Kathy A. Fitch,: Would be interesting to include international writing centers on the list.IWCA’s website lists two (or rather, provides links to two who have websites)--I wonder how many others might be out there? Carol Haviland, WPA-L, 9/9/2005: EATAW is independent—its own organization; EWCA, which had its conference in Halkidiki, Greece, in June (chaired by Anna Challenger) is affiliated with IWCA, and several folks have worked on collaborative projects—Joan Mullin and Paula Gillespie, particularly. I suspect that both would be interested in working on such a project, as would I. On Monday, I’ll look through the two conf programs and send some other names. ‹ Existing Collaborations | Main Resource List | 2009 CCCC Workshop on International Research › |
